Bolivia is a country in central South America, with a diverse terrain ranging from the Andes, the Atacama Desert, and the rainforest in the Amazon Basin. At over 3,500 m above sea level, its administrative capital, La Paz, is located on the Andean Altiplano with the snow-capped Illimani in the background. Nearby is the crystal-clear Lake Titicaca, the largest on the continent, which straddles the border with Peru.
